THE CATALOGFAQ GUIDES
From first answer
to a shared library.
Clear steps for installation, publishing, updates, and getting help.
Install on a test site first.
Download Free, then use WordPress → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Activate CatalogFAQ and open its workspace. Free requires WordPress 6.6+ and PHP 8.2+.
WooCommerce and Elementor are optional. You can publish ordinary page FAQs using Gutenberg or a shortcode.
Publish your first FAQ.
- Create a question and its answer in the shared library.
- Create a group and choose the answers in the order you want.
- Add the group to a page using the CatalogFAQ block or its shortcode.
- Save the page, then check the published result.
Use the layout and display settings to suit your theme. Edit the original answer when several pages need the same updated wording.
Put product answers in context.
With WooCommerce active, assign groups directly to products or through their categories and tags. Check both the intended product and another product to confirm the scope.
Pro adds conditional rules and product-specific wording. Preview those changes before applying them across the catalog.
Update without uninstalling.
Back up the database and plugin files. Replace the installed plugin with the new ZIP using WordPress’s update flow. Keep your existing content and settings; do not uninstall to update.
For an older installation in the catalog-faq folder, follow the exact folder migration steps in the installation instructions. Test the result before changing your live store.
Free provides versioned JSON/CSV portability and same-site ZIP backup/restore. Pro adds cross-site ZIP migration with explicit product remapping. Review what the export includes.
Add Pro alongside Free.
Open My account for your licence and eligible Pro download. Install and activate Pro while keeping Free active, then enter your licence under CatalogFAQ → Licence & updates.
Use the setup email to choose a password. If it has expired, request a new setup or recovery link. You do not need a CatalogFAQ account to use Free.
Something looks out of date?
- Confirm the answer and group are published and assigned to the right place.
- Refresh the page and any host or CDN cache. Read the plugin’s after-save notice.
- Check theme styles and test with other integrations on a staging copy.
- For import errors, review the file format and reported validation message.
