Publish your first FAQ

From one question to a useful answer on your website. No account or licence needed for Free.

A small first step

Start with one real question your visitors ask. You need WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 8.2 or later. WooCommerce is optional; ordinary page FAQs work without it.

Use a staging site when trying a new plugin or changing your theme. Download CatalogFAQ Free, then open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin in WordPress. Upload the ZIP and activate it.

1. Write an answer

Open the CatalogFAQ workspace and its FAQ library. Add a question, write a clear answer, and publish it. Use wording you can keep up to date, such as a delivery policy or a product-care instruction.

Example questionHow should I clean my canvas tote?

Spot clean with cool water and let it air dry.

Fictional example. Use your own product instructions.

2. Put it in a group

Create an FAQ group, choose your published question, and arrange the answers in the order you want. Publish the group. A group controls which answers appear together; the original answer stays in your library.

3. Place it on a page

Edit a WordPress page and insert the CatalogFAQ group block, or copy the group’s generated shortcode into a Shortcode block. Choose the group and save the page. With Elementor installed, you can also use the CatalogFAQ widget.

For product pages, follow the WooCommerce placement guide; adding an ordinary page block does not automatically assign answers to products.

4. Check what a visitor sees

  • Open the published page in a signed-out or private browser window.
  • Expand the answer and check any links on desktop and mobile.
  • Edit the original answer, save, and check the page again.
  • If old wording remains, follow the after-save notice and clear the relevant page, host or CDN cache.

Try the interactive Free preview if you want to explore first. It uses fictional data in your browser, rather than running a WordPress installation.

Finish with the visitor’s view.

Check the published page while signed out, including its mobile layout.
